Sound An Alarm! Vikings Are Coming!

Some of history’s greatest seafarers, an inspiration to all those with an adventurous spirit, or a plundering one for that matter.

I decided to try something new with this small piece; a speed painting.

I really struggle to get a good amount of time in for a half decent painting session, working on one of my more thought out artworks and as a result, most of the time end up not painting at all. With that in mind, I had a couple of hours spare and decided to just go for it and try my hand at a speed painting.

I’ve been waiting for a while now for this piece to dry enough to get it scanned and published and now at last the time has come!

As a huge fan of the Vikings TV show and all things Norse I knew that I had to begin getting some Norse inspired artwork put together and I have now completed the first piece for the collection of Norse Artwork.

Norse themed artwork will be the sideline to my main IP ‘The Leaves of Hellebore’ so you can expect plenty more of these Viking pieces both historical and mythological as time goes on.

The Vikings Are Coming!

Norse Inspired Artwork

“This year came dreadful fore-warnings over the land, terrifying the people most woefully: these were immense sheets of light rushing through the air, and whirlwinds, and fiery dragons flying across the firmament.”

 – Entry for the year 793 in the Anglo Saxon chronicle.

I have also seen Viking sails on the horizon of late, but unlike the poor monks of Lindisfarne I have not been filled with dread and despair; I have been filled with inspiration and the start of a new project.
